Shropshire is a largely rural unitary authority and ceremonial county in the West Midlands region, bordering Wales to the west. It is one of England's least densely populated counties, celebrated for its outstanding natural landscapes including the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Long Mynd and Wenlock Edge. The county has a rich history rooted in the Welsh Marches, with Shrewsbury as its county town, and a strong agricultural, tourism and light manufacturing economy.
