Kent is a ceremonial county in the far south-east of England, bordered by the Thames Estuary, the Strait of Dover and the English Channel. Often called the Garden of England for its hop gardens, orchards and rolling countryside, Kent is also one of the most historically significant counties, containing Canterbury Cathedral, Dover Castle and the port gateway to Europe. The Isle of Thanet, at Kent's north-eastern tip, includes the seaside towns of Margate, Ramsgate and Broadstairs.
