Bognor Regis is a seaside resort town on the West Sussex coast, best known for its long sandy beach, Victorian pier, and the annual Birdman competition. It gained the 'Regis' suffix to its name in 1929 following King George V's convalescence in the town, a royal connection of which locals remain proud. Today the town is home to around 28,000 residents, the popular Butlin's holiday resort, and a compact but lively town centre, making it one of the south coast's most characterful traditional seaside destinations.
