Glasgow City is a council area and unitary authority coterminous with the boundaries of the city of Glasgow, administered by Glasgow City Council. It is the most populous local authority in Scotland, home to around 635,000 residents. The council area encompasses a diverse range of neighbourhoods, from the historic Merchant City and West End to the suburban south side and regenerated East End, and is a major centre for commerce, higher education and the arts in Scotland.
